Johnston Heights Church is searching for a Bookkeeper who is a passionate follower of Jesus, has a heart for God and a heart for people, and a servant heart for the congregation as a whole.  

Scope 

The Bookkeeper position is part time at approximately 10-12 hours per week (wage $20-$23/hr) and a preferred start date of April 1, 2024. This person will report to the Administrative Directors. They shall be given the authority to fulfill the specific duties as outlined in the official job description. 

Role 

To carry out the full scope of details of the duties and responsibilities listed below: 

• Oversee all staff salaries and benefits 
• Bi-weekly payroll 
• Process expense forms 
• Ensure all invoices are processed and paid 
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements 
• Maintain all financial records 
• Prepare required regulatory filings 
• Front office assistance 

Qualifications 

• A solid understanding of bookkeeping and / or generally accepted accounting practices 
• Organization and administrative skills  
• Works well with others in a team environment and is comfortable working independently 
• Preference will be given to attendees of Johnston Heights Church

Youth and Children’s Worker 2024- Job Description

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to provide valuable experience in both Children and Youth Ministries by giving leadership and mentorship opportunities.

Hours and Schedule:

·      Start date: May 16^th

·      35 hours/week for 14 weeks

·      Wage: $17.75/hour

*Note: the hours and start date listed are subject to approval by the BC Summer Jobs Program and may be changed. 

Reporting:

·      Primary reports to Children’s Director & Youth/Young Adults Director

Qualifications:

·      Born again Christian who has committed to Making Jesus known in every community He places us!

·      Proficient in basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and online tools

·      Previous experience working with children and youth

·      Research and organization skills

·      Preference given to those with one year of college or biblical leadership training, but not required

This position is dependent on summer job funding and the successful candidate must also meet the summer job program qualifications. 

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

Children’s Ministry

·      Assist in family care

·      Plan family events

·      Assist in running day camps in July (volunteer management, registration, prep & planning)

·      Sunday morning program

Youth Ministry

·      Assist in planning & running youth events/nights

· Organization and planning of youth curriculum and program

·      Assist in planning & executing youth camp

We are looking for a contract security person to oversee different events held at the church. Duties would include opening and locking up the building, as well as patrolling during the event.
